Using Transmit with WebCom

Transmit is an ftp program made for the Mac that is very easy to use and much more intuitive than the more commonly used Fetch ftp.

This page describes how to configure Transmit to work with WebCom. If you have questions about using or purchashing Transmit, please visit the makers of Transmit at www.panic.com.

Configuring Transmit

When you first run Transmit you will be presented with a simple-looking window with four empty fields on the right side labled: Address, Username, Password and Directory. Fill in those four fields as follows:

That's it. You're done. To connect to your account on our server and start transferring files, simply click on the connect button. To save your settings simply choose "File" - "Add Path to Favorites" and then create a profile name. The next time you want to use Transmit, simply choose the profile name from the folder icon located in the top right of the settings screen and you will not have to type everything again.

Using Transmit

When you're connected to your WebCom account with Transmit, you will see your local computer's file system represented on the left side of the window, and your WebCom account on the right. To transfer files from one place to the other, all you need to do is drag a file from one side of the window to the other. To move into a subdirectory simply double click on the appropriate subdirectory. To move to a parent directory, click on the folder icon located in the top right corner of either the remote or local window. Transmit offeres many enhanced features such as the ability to delete and rename files. For more information on using Transmit, please see the program's built-in help menu.
