Is WebCom's software available for use elsewhere?
Web Communications is not a software company. WebCom software is intended for use only by WebCom account holders on WebCom systems. No license agreements are available.
Providing online services and selling commercial software are two very different businesses. Web Communications is organized to provide online services. WebCom software is tightly integrated with the WebCom online services; to repackage it as commercial software available for license would require significant restructuring of both the software and the WebCom business operation.
Web Communications is organized only to collect fees for services at this time. Please consider opening a WebCom account as a means to gain full access to the powerful communications capabilities afforded by WebCom software.
If you need a certain level of power and flexibility just not attainable with a standardized service like WebCom, you may want to consider a "hybrid" server, in which you store graphics, volumes of text, etc., on your WebCom account, and use your own low-end, low-speed Web server to handle customized operations such as database transactions and queries, "cgi" operations, etc. Since the graphics and Web pages can be stored on WebCom server, and your low-speed server is only handling coordination or database queries, you can construct a high-performance, highly customized system. The fact that the system is distributed across multiple servers is virtually transparent to the end-user.
