What is this strange file ending in ".gz" that I found in my log/clog directory?
This is nothing to worry about, and is simply a compressed version of the log data which has been accumulating in your account. Because the use of disk space above your monthly quota can increase your monthly bill, WebCom System Administrators will occasionally compress any large log archives that they find.
These files are still fully accessible by you. You can download these files via FTP by using the FTP command get filename, instead of get filename.gz. When you exclude the filename extension in this way, the FTP server knows to decompress the file before sending it to you.
