Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about WebCom Domain Name Parking |
For general information and instructions about using the WebCom SiteSaver account, please see our SiteSaver documentation.
Does the $49.95 SiteSaver fee include domain name registeration fees?
No, the Network Solutions registeration fees are not included. To help you get your domain name quickly, Webcom has a partnership with Network Soltution--a US authority for registering domain names. WebCom's automated system makes it easy to register a new domain name with Network Solutions while opening an account with WebCom. The parking fee of $49.95 will be charged to the credit card you enter on the application form.
As you enter you contact infomration, we automatically pass this information to Network Solutions for domain name registeration. Once your domain name has been registered with Network Solutions, you will recieve a separate invoice for $70 within 5-10 working days. Paying the $70 invoice directly to Network Solutions will be the last step in registering the domain. Once they recieve your payment, you will be listed as the Administrative Contact and the owner of the domain.
I am already a WebCom customer and I want to park a domain name, do I need to open up a new SiteSaver account?
No, you can park a new domain name, or change the status of an active domain name to "parked" in any existing BudgetSite, BusinessSite, or WebCommerce account via the Domain Name Services menu. You can also reactivate the domain name at any time.
I have a SiteSaver plan and a seperate service plan with WebCom. How do I move one of my parked domain names from my SiteSaver plan to my other one?
You can move any domain name from one account to another account (as long as you own both accounts!) by emailing hostmaster@webcom.com. In your email, be sure to provide the domain name information as well as the userid and password for the SiteSaver account.
How do I downgrade from my BudgetSite, BusinessSite, or a WebCommerce service plan to the SiteSaver service plan?
There is no automated system to downgrade to the SiteSaver plan. If you want to change your current account to a SiteSaver account, just give us a call at 1-888-8WEBCOM, option 5, and we'll do it for you!
If I have more than one domain name parked with a SiteSaver Service Plan and I upgrade to a BudgetSite, BusinessSite, or a WebCommerce plan, do they all become active?
Yes! You will need to re-park any domains that you want parked under your new Service Plan. (You can do this using the Park/Unpark Domain Service at http://webcom.com/~webcom/services/dns/ If you do not, you will be billed for the average total number of domain names active during the billing period on your next statement. Each active domain name will cost $9.95 per month.
If I downgrade to a SiteSaver plan in the middle of my billing period, do I get credit back for my service fee?
Monthly service fees are paid a month in advance, and will not be credited back if there is a change to the SiteSaver Service Plan mid-billing period.
How long does it take for a parked domain name to become active?
It takes up to 4 hours for a parked domain name to become active in WebCom's system.
Is there any limit to the number of domains names I can have parked in my account?
Sitesaver accounts are currently limited to 20 domain names. There is a $9.95 service fee for each additional domain name. Other service plans do not have any limit to the number of parked domain names that you can have, but this is subject to change at any time.
What if I open a SiteSaver Service Plan, but then decide to upgrade to a BudgetSite, BusinessSite, or a WebCommerce account soon after registering my domain name? Can I get a refund or a credit applied to my account?
SiteSaver fees are non-refundable and will not be applied toward your new service plan or any upgrades. However, because you have paid for the SiteSaver service plan, if you upgrade to a different WebCom service plan, you will not have to pay the SiteSaver activation fee in you downgrade again for as long as you are within 24 months of the day you originally opened your SiteSaver account.
What if I experience delays in my domain name registration or moving a domain to WebCom?
Please email our hostmaster at hostmaster@webcom.com and he will investigate your request immediately and respond to you with an answer.
Can I get help with using my email forwarding?
The SiteSaver service plan allows technical support via email. Simply email us at support@webcom.com.
Can I collect WebCom Rewards points for customers I refer to WebCom that sign up for the SiteSaver service plan?
The WebCom Rewards program is available to new BudgetSite, BusinessSite, and WebCommerce customers only.
I registered a domain, but it's spelled wrong. How can I correct it?
Once your account has been activated, you can use the Control Panel (login left of this page) and use the Domain Name Services Menu to cancel your incorrectly spelled domain and register the corrected one.
