For more information about domain names at WebCom, please see our Domain Name Services documentation.

Description

The form, Activate a Regional (.cc, .to, .au, etc.) Domain already pointing to WebCom is used to activate virtual hosting for Non-InterNIC domains which have been registered to point to WebCom. Once virtual hosting is activated and the domain has been appropriately registered, accesses to the domain will result with the appropriate pages for that WebCom Web site.

The form is very easy to use. You simply enter the domain you would like hosted by WebCom into the box, then click on the button labeled "Activate virtual domain name at WebCom". You can fill out this form at any time, however accesses to the domain will not be directed to your WebCom web site until you have registered the domain with the appropriate agency. This is explained in more detail below.

About Non-InterNIC Domains

The InterNIC is the central agency which assigns domain names ending in .com, .net and .org (these "suffixes" are commonly referred to as "top level" domains). Domains which use any other top level domain (i.e. .us, .gov, .au, .de) are registered by other agencies. While the BudgetSite and BusinessSite service plans can host any domain, the WebCom online domain registration forms are only designed to work with domains serviced by the InterNIC. Because of this, any non-InterNIC domains you wish to have point to your WebCom site must be registered directly with the appropriate agency. For information about registering these domains please see the following URLs:

WebCom's Index of NICs

Once the registration process has been completed, then the Activate Virtual Hosting for a Non-InterNIC Domain Name form should be used to activate virtual hosting for the domain. Once the domain is active in your WebCom account, you will be able to access your web site using your domain. You will also be able to use WebCom Services to create email addresses and Subdomains.
