How to get to 4222 22nd Street

This is what you're looking for:

If you're used to San Francisco, it's pretty easy. We're on 22nd Street in Noe Valley, just west of Douglass Street:

By public transit

The closest major transit stop is the Castro Street Muni station, at the intersection of Castro, Market, and 17th Streets. Take any of the K, L, or M underground lines to Castro, or the F streetcar to its last stop.

To walk from Castro and Market, go three blocks southwest along Market Street, take a left on Eureka, walk five blocks uphill, turn right on 22nd, walk a block and a half, and we're the green house on the right.

The hill is fairly steep, so you can take a bus. The 35 Eureka, which leaves Castro Station on the hour and half-hour (and is a little more frequent during rush hour); get off the bus at 22nd Street, and go right on 22nd a block and a half. Or, ride the 24 Divisadero to Castro and 23rd, take the right on 23rd, right on Douglass, and left on 22nd.

The other major public transit alternative is to take the J Church streetcar to Church and 24th. Then you can walk along 24th, turn right on Douglass, and turn left on 22nd. Or take the 48 24th Street to Hoffman and 22nd and walk down the hill to our place.

Driving: Yahoo Directions

Where are you coming from?

Street Address:
City, State & ZIP:

Warning: The Yahoo Directions are a little odd when coming from the north. They generally tell you to take Castro Street, turn right on 21st Street, left on Collingwood, right on 21st (again), left on Eureka, and right on 21st (yet again). Yep, that's right, three right turns on to 21st. The friend who pointed out the bizarre directions actually followed them, but it's easier just to turn right from Castro on to 20th, left on Eureka, and right on 22nd.

Driving: From the Peninsula via 280 North

Take 280 to downtown; that is, when 280 splits from 19th Avenue/Highway 1, take the right fork. Get off at San Jose Ave. At the second traffic light (it's a left arrow which immediately follows the first light), bend left onto Dolores. At Clipper Street, take a left, then go six blocks and take a right at Douglass. Continue on Douglass to 22nd Street; take the left turn, and we're on the right side of the street.

(280 is by far the best route from the South Bay.)

Driving: From the Peninsula via 101 North

Take the Army St. West exit from 101; it's now labelled Cesar Chavez on most of the Freeway signs. Follow Cesar Chavez about twenty blocks until you can't go straight any further, take a right on Noe, left on Clipper, and right on Douglass. Then continue as if coming from 280.

Driving: From the east and north via 101 South

Take the Fell Street exit (the Central Freeway) from 101S; it's a right exit that shares a long ramp with the Mission/Duboce exit. Take Fell to Divisadero, turn left on Divisadero, continue along the street as it bends and turns into Castro Street. Take the right on Market Street, then the left, at the second stoplight, on Eureka. Turn right off Eureka on to 22nd, go a block and a half, and look for parking.

Driving: From the north and east parts of the city

Take Market Street to Eureka, which is the second legal left after Castro and 17th, and take the left. Turn right off Eureka on to 22nd, go a block and a half, and starting looking for ...

Parking

Parking here is remarkably easy for San Francisco. If there's nothing on the street on our block, you can block our driveway (if you've got a fairly narrow car) or try on 22nd Street, in front of the school.
