Credit Card Processing/CyberCash
Some people confuse the term “credit card processing” with
“CyberCash.” CyberCash® is a corporation
that offers a secure gateway
through which credit card information is passed to the private network
used by all the financial institutions for authorization
and capture of credit card funds. It is a
credit card processor, such as
Cardservice International, who actually
performs the transfer of funds between your bank and the shopper’s bank.
With WebCommerce, we have an optional service that allows a merchant
to process their shoppers’ credit cards in real time via the CyberCash
gateway. You need to have a merchant ID
and a CyberCash ID in
order to use this optional service. We have partnerships with both
Cardservice International and
CyberCash, and by clicking
on their names in this sentence, you will be taken to the appropriate pages
for more information and on-line application forms.
You tell WebCommerce what your merchant ID and CyberCash IDs
are in the secure WebCommerce Back Office.
Once you ship the merchandise, you must return to the
CyberCash Merchant Administration Area,
login and tell CyberCash which order
transactions have been completed.
Once you do that, CyberCash then
sends the information to the credit card processor who arranges for the
transfer of funds from the shopper’s bank to yours. This
is referred to as “capturing”
funds. The transfer of funds only
takes seconds to accomplish.
